Appeal Process

Appeal Process:

At JTM, we uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and fairness. We understand that authors may occasionally wish to appeal editorial decisions. Our appeal process is designed to provide authors with a fair and transparent mechanism to address concerns regarding editorial decisions.

  • Grounds for Appeal:
    • Authors may appeal editorial decisions on the grounds of factual errors, misinterpretation, procedural irregularities, or other significant concerns about the review process.
    • Appeals must be based on substantial evidence and should not be submitted solely due to a disagreement with the outcome of the review process.
  • Initiating an Appeal:
    • Authors should submit their appeal in writing within 30 days of receiving the decision letter.
    • Appeals must be sent via email to the editorial office, clearly marked as an "Appeal", and include the title, and corresponding author’s contact details.
  • Appeal Review Process:
    • Upon receiving an appeal, the editorial office will acknowledge receipt within five business days.
    • The appeal will be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and/or Associate Editors who were not involved in the initial decision-making process.
    • The appeal review process will typically be completed within 30 days, although this timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of the case.
  • Outcome of the Appeal:
    • Following the review, one of the following outcomes will be communicated to the author:
    • The original decision is upheld, with an explanation provided for the decision.
    • The decision is overturned, and the manuscript will undergo further review by the editorial team.
    • The decision is revised, with modifications made to address concerns raised in the appeal.
    • The decision reached following the appeal review is final and cannot be further appealed.
  • Confidentiality and Impartiality:
    • All appeals will be handled confidentially, with information shared only with individuals directly involved in the appeal review process.
    • Appeals will be evaluated impartially, without bias or prejudice, to ensure a fair and objective assessment.
  • Ethical Considerations:
    • Authors are expected to adhere to the principles of academic integrity and honesty throughout the appeal process.
    • Any attempt to manipulate or falsify information during the appeal may result in further disciplinary action.
